What do you LIKE about this country?
|
Pies. Football. Sunday roasts. TV comedy.
That's about it for me. All the other stuff I used to like doesn't exist anymore.

Well I now live in Hitchin, so not much on a day to day basis, but across that list the thing I love most is our humour and self depreciating wit.
How many other countries would start an Olympic Games with someone dressed up as our Head of State being thrown out of a helicopter with James Bond, while MrBean wrecks the Chariots of Fire tune.

I hate people here who moan about their own club country.
When you move away from LONDON for a significant period of time i.e. at least a few months; you realise how incredible the city is when you get back.
I've done a lot of travelling - and I plan to do a lot more still - but LONDON is easily the best city in the world. No ifs and buts about it.
The countryside that we have as well is absolutely beautiful. We live in a fantastic country.

So many things. Love being English, love bing British:
- Our seasons and weather - Our beautiful countryside - Sense of humour and our self-depreciating wit - Bacon sandwiches - Full English breakfasts - Sunday roasts - A lazy Sunday afternoon pint in a country pub - Pubs generally and pub banter. And pork scratchings - Builders Tea - The BBC - 1970 and 1980's classic BBC sitcoms - David Attenborough - The opening ceremony to the 2012 Olympic Games. - The 2012 Olympic Games - Our underdog status in sport and how we often triumph against adversity (except in football) - 6 nations rugby - History - Innovations - quite incredible how many things have been invented by us lot - The NHS - David Attenborough - Our music - how many good bands have come from the UK? - The efforts of pull-together attitude of our fore-fathers in WWII and other wars. Immensely proud of my grandparents and relatives who gave their day for us to have ours. - We punch above our weight - Beating Australia in the 2003 rugby final - Beating Germany 5-1 in Munich
and that's just off the top of my head. It's too easy and perceived to be the 'in thing' to knock us. I LOVE this country.

Pretty sure mustard would be better if it wasn't cut with flour, like Coleman's is.
